How to Get the Best Deal When Buying a Used Bowflex

Would you like to save 50% or more on a Bowflex? Buying a used Bowflex can save you 100's of dollars on a home gym, that in most cases, has been barely used.

But,

Where is the best place to look for one?

What are the mistakes to avoid when buying?

How can you get the best deal?

To answer these questions, below is information on where you can find a used Bowflex, and Tips for getting the most home gym for your money.

- SPECIAL ALERT -

Would you like to save $200 - $500 on your Bowflex home gym AND get FREE shipping (an additional $200 savings)? Please click here

Buying on eBay

The first and easiest way to find a great deal on a used home gym is eBay.com.

Setting up your search

1) Open an account at eBay.com.

It's easy and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, please click here (Note: this will open a new window in your browser)

2) Searching for a specific Bowflex model? Simply enter it into the search box, exp "Bowflex Ultimate 2, Bowflex Revolution, etc."

Buying Tips

1. If you can avoid it, don't use shipping - most sellers won't offer it because of the cost, however, if they do, it would cost you $300 - $500 to have it shipped.

2. A far better choice is local pickup - because you are using eBay you have a greater degree of protection... you can find out about the seller and also have protection against any type of fraud.

3. Have a set amount you want to invest. If you want to spend $500 for example, use that amount as your "maximum bid amount." Then if you didn't win your 1st. auction, move on to the next.

Tip- Start with ½ of the retail price.
4. Holiday buying- during the Christmas holiday, tens of thousands of Bowflex's will be sold. Unfortunately, (or fortunately for you ) in mid-winter they'll decide to get what they can for their new "clothes hanger."

5. No warranty- one thing to consider when buying a used Bowflex is that Bowflex won't transfer warranty. Which really isn't a big deal. They are very well made and replacement parts are reasonably priced.

6. If you plan on buying a Power Pro or Ultimate model sold before May 2004, make sure it has the "Repair Kit." Bowflex recalled these gyms due to 50 people injuring themselves. The Repair Kit addresses all the problems. (Note: Bowflex will also send you a Repair Kit free of charge, but it does take 6 weeks for shipping.)

Due to the recall, you could save even more on these models because of the bad press surrounding them.
7. Patience is golden. You may not get the gym at the price you want immediately. However, if you are patient you can get a great, barely used, home gym at 30% to 70% off of retail.

A Much Easier Way to Save

Amazon.com offers great savings on many Bowflex models.

Benefits of using Amazon:

  • Save $100's off of retail

  • No bidding, watching auctions, or searching through the newspaper

  • FREE shipping

  • Your Bowflex home gym will be covered by a 2-12 year warranty

Tips for Buying Your Used Bowflex Locally

Buying local has a couple advantages over buying on eBay.

    1. You get to see the home gym in person.

    2. Typically you won't have as many other buyers looking, so you can get a pretty good deal.

    3. Check for wear- a tell tail sign that the used Bowflex has actually been "used"... is the hand grips.

If they are worn and tangled you know it's been used. In contrast, if they look brand new, you found a great deal!

In Summary

eBay offers an easy, low-risk way to find a great deal in your area. Setting up the search you want and getting updates in your email box, makes the process a snap.

On the other hand, great deals can also be found through the newspaper etc. Check for wear on the machine and also ask for the Repair Kit. If they don't have it, you can request it free from Bowflex, but it does take 6 weeks for it to arrive.
