How are anaerobic and aerobic exercise different?
Aerobic exercise (30 minutes walking/jogging on a treadmill, etc.) will empower your body to
burn fat and lose unhealthy weight.
Anaerobic exercise (circuit training on Total Gymn, etc) builds lean muscle while empowering
you to lose unwanted body fat. Result? Your body loses inches and to a lesser degree,
weight.
Aerobic exercise = Overall weight loss
Anaerobic exercise = Losing inches/bodyfat, and gaining muscle tone/strength
Good exercise selection. Depending on the model, they can offer anywhere from 40 to
200 exercises.
No free weights or extra equipment. The Total Body Gym only uses your body weight as
resistance. (Note: some models do offer a free weight attachment so you can add up to 70Ibs. of additional resistance)
Exercise your core muscles. Many exercises on Total Gym (like chest press) require you to sit
on the seat while pressing. Unlike traditional chest press, where your back rests against a pad, on
Total Body Gym your abdominals and core muscles must work to stabilize your body.
Lightweight. Models for home weigh from 50 to 95Ibs.
Storage. The 1700 Club folds up and can be stored under some beds. The 14000 folds up
vertically.
Resistance Level. Each Total Body Gym has 6 resistance levels: 6% up to 61% of your total
body weight.
Price? $400 to $1790.
Possible Cons
Strength Training. Total Body Gym uses your own body weight as resistance (6% to 61%). For toning
and slimming this can work well.
However, for strength training or muscle building, it could be a major disadvantage - especially for legs.
