Unlike other Boflex models, the Motivator and Motivator 2 will not allow you to upgrade your resistance.

The Bowflex Motivator series can work for toning. It offers enough features and resistance to enable a person to get a good toning workout.
However, the Motivator can be limiting.
A better choice could be the Bowflex Sport. It offers 60 exercises to choose from and the option to increase your resistance to 310Ib. or even up to 410Ib. In addition, you can get a more feature-rich Bowflex Sport for roughly the same price as the Motivator.
