For toning, having greater resistance can enable you to train each muscle at it's optimal level.

For example, your thighs will be able to use far more resistance than your arm muscles.

The Bowflex Sport can be upgraded to 410Ib of resistance (which you'll find you can easily do with leg presses). At $999, you could save $769 off of the Extreme 2.
