Bowflex XTL vs The Bowflex Extreme 2

by David Boggs
(Katy, Tx.)

I am a travel RN and gym memberships are expensive and I really don't like being around a bunch of strangers in a gym. I bought a new Bowflex XTL in 2001. I really like the upper body work out I get from it. I needed to leave it behind for an extended out of state assignment. Not lifting when away from home is not an option. I shopped around for a "real" weight set that would provide me the resistance training I need. The problem is, when on assignment, I live in small apartments and the extra several hundred pounds of weight may become an issue. I ended up buying a Bowflex Extreme 2, brand new, and putting it together myself.

There is no comparison between the workout of the 1st generation and the Extreme 2. The Bowflex Extreme 2 is quieter, more ergonomically designed, and exercise changes are instant thanks to the complex pulley system. No more changing seat positions, adding cables, or bench on/bench off.

I will be selling my original Bowflex upon my return home. The Extreme 2 can be had, brand new, for about $1,000. Assembly takes about 1- 1 1/2 hours and that's it.

I am 46 years old and will not be without a Bowflex again.

Bowflex Extreme 2

I bought a Bowflex Extreme 2 second hand. It came with the 310 lbs power rod upgrade option which is nice to have.

I watched the included instructional DVD and now understand the concept about how it was designed verses using free weights.

I have been working out for 3 weeks now with great results. What is nice about the power rods is the weight/resistance comes on gradual and then maxes in percentage - less chance to injure your muscles and joints. I also noticed quicker recovery times between workouts.

The Extreme 2 is very well built and designed. Bowflex customer service is great as I ordered a few spare parts.

One other thing the machine does not take up much space and is compact in size.

I really enjoy my Bowflex home gym and look forward to working out.

Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE - Now my wife has started using it too!!!

by Shamik Ghosh
(Houston, Texas, U.S.A)

I am an Indian now living in Texas, U.S.A. As a software engineer, I have a hectic work schedule and I don’t get any time to go to the gym. As a result I was getting fat. Even my newly married wife was making fun about my tummy. You know how that feels.

Then my colleague Sarah advised me to use Bowflex Home Gyms. She told me that I can get it even on monthly installments.

So I ordered Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym and began useing it in my extra time.

Yes, It has again made me feel like 10 years younger. My tummy has disappeared. My muscles got developed. This is a good machine for reducing fat in the comfort of your own place. Its 4 position adjustable pulleys help you to do as much as 70 exercises. Now I recommend my friends and colleagues--Bowflex is a good Home Gym. It strenghtens the muscles of my body and thus reduce my extra fat.

The best thing is that I can use this home gym whenever I feel like working out, even if it’s early in the morning. Now my wife is also using it with me. It is a good experience sharing the machine with your loved ones. Thanks to Bowflex.

Bowflex Xtreme 2

Just purchased a previously owned Bowflex Extreme 2. (Looks Brand New) I Love It!!! Am still learning all the exercises I can do. It's so easy... no changing cables! Go right from one exercise to another. Very Sturdy machine. Only draw back would be for someone limited on space as it does not fold up for storage.
