Bowflex Dumbbells Have a Cheap Plastic Core!

I like the Selecttech 552, 52.2 lb. dumbbells; however one fell to the ground on me and the plastic circular shell that held the 5 lb. bar in place on one of them broke off. It is now unavailable, therefore I cannot perform an exercise that calls for 2 db's using a combination that includes the 5 lb. increment. I am searching for a vendor who will fix it. I hope it is not a throw-away world even with this expensive equipment. I say that the Bowflex dumbbells are nice, convenient, and quick to use, but not sturdy. You need to baby them and not slam them to the floor, nor clang them together for their "CORE IS CHEAP PLASTIC".
