Finding & Saving Money on the Best Health Club for You

A Health club can be an exciting, and energizing place to get in shape. But which one is right for you ? How can you stay motivated and on track to reaching your goals?

And most importantly- how can you get the results that you want from your membership?

Below you can find answers to these questions along with information on how to have fun and stay motivated in your workouts. And finally Tips for getting the best results from your training efforts.

Finding "Your" Best Value in a Health Club

Tip 1- Make a list of the features you'll need for achieving your goals.

For example, if you are planning on using resistance training and aerobic exercisers (treadmill, stair climber, etc), a club which has "extras" such as tennis courts, racket ball courts, etc. will cost you more than you'd actually need to pay.

SIDEBAR

In most cases health clubs that have the "extras", tend not to have the best equipment. The reason: They're trying to appeal to everyone rather than focusing their resources on being the best in their niche.

Tip 2- Now that you have your list of features, it's time to "shop around." The vast majority of clubs offer Free Day Passes and Trial Memberships.

And even if you have to invest a little for a Day Pass it will be money well spent.

Tip 3- Once you've taken your initial "test drives", it's time to nominate your "finalists." Here are a few questions that may be helpful:

  • Is it clean? Is it well kept and does it smell fresh?
  • What type of clientele does it have? (Are they people you are comfortable exercising around?)
  • What kind of "vibe" does it have? Is it motivating, up beat - or gloomy, depressing?
  • Is it convenient for you to get to?
  • Is it too busy? (It can be frustrating working out when you have to wait in line to use equipment)
  • Does it have the facilities you want (whirlpool, sauna, lap pool, track, etc.)?
  • Does it have facilities you don't want? The more "extras" the club offers, the higher their dues will be.
  • Is it in your price range? Do you have to sign up for a year or more?

Special TIP- In the summer, especially in "college towns", health clubs will offer great deals because of low turnout

How to Have FUN & Stay Motivated in Your Workouts

Everyone from time-to-time, doesn't "feel" like going to their health club.

Below are Tips for helping you stay motivated and increasing the fun and enjoyment in your workouts.

Tip 1- Find "your" Optimal Training Time . This will take a little experimenting.

  • First, try training at your health club at different times during the day (depending on your schedule of course).
  • Now ask yourself: "When was I the most energized and excited to train (what time of day)?" Your answer will be "your" Optimal Training Time.

SIDEBAR

Most experts agree that early morning exercise is the most effective.

However, one of the best ways to achieve long-term success in exercise is making it a "consistent habit." When you find your "Optimal Training Time" you will be working out when it’s the easiest for you to keep your workout habit and enjoy your sessions.

Tip 2- Make your work out a consistent habit. After you've found "your" Optimal Training Time. Train at that same time each workout day. By doing so your mind and body will "automatically" get charged up for your workouts.

Tip 3- Pre-workout routine. One of the best ways to prepare for those days when you won't "feel" like going to the gym is to have a pre-workout routine.

For example: on the drive to your health club you could have a cup of coffee, and listen to your favorite upbeat music or motivational speaker. This may seem like a small thing, but it will give your mind and body the signal to "warm up".

Special Tip- To really "charge yourself up" a thermogenic formula works very well. We recommend Ripped Fuel. It's been on the market for 10+ years and we've found it to produce consistent results in giving us that extra energy to get the most out of our workouts.

Tip 4- A training partner. Having a friend or spouse to share your health club gyms membership with can be an amazing experience. You both can help each other stay motivated and having fun.

And training together can be a tremendous bonding experience.

Tip 5- Extra motivation. To add that little "extra" enjoyment to your workouts, listen to your avorite music or motivational speaker while training. It can add a lot to your sessions and it can get you over those days when you are not 100% motivated.
