Pros & Cons to the Revolution
The Revolution has many nice features such as its "whisper quiet" SpiraFlex resistance and over
100+ exercises. But at over $2,700, would it be the right choice for you?
To answer that question, let's look at the Bowflex Revolution's Pro's & Con's compared to the
original Bowflex: Pro
- 100+ exercises. So much variety that you could create a different workout for each day of
the year.
- Leg press of up to 600 pounds. With the original Bowflex models, the leg press could only
go up to 410Ib.
- 10 year warranty on the machine. Bowflex has very good customer service and appreciates
their customers.
- 10 year warranty on their SpiraFlex plates.
- Whisper quiet. If you live in an apartment that has "thin" walls, the Bowflex Revolution will
keep you in good standing with your neighbors.
- Well built & comfortable.
- Works well for tall people.
Cons
- Large & tall when folded. Someone described it best as looking like a "large Preying
Mantis".
- 245 pounds! At 245Ib your probably not going to move it that easily. Also, to protect your
floor or carpeting, purchasing the machine mat would be a good investment.
- One sized doesn't fit all. Though it fits tall people well, if you happen to be below
5' 8" you may find it difficult to do certain exercises.
- 220Ib standard resistance. Bowflex charges an extra $100 to upgrade your resistance from
220Ib to 300Ib. For most people 300Ib should be plenty of resistance, however, for athletes (like
football players, weight lifters, etc.) the regular Bowflex models offer up to 410Ib of resistance.
- A price tag of up to $2,900! Bowflex offers financing. However, at 21.9%
(25.9% if you happen to miss a payment) you may want to shop around for "reasonable"
financing instead.
Could It Be the Right Choice for You?
Who it would work best for:
1. Those who already consistently workout at home.
2. Individuals who want the highest quality in manufacturing and appearance.
3. People who need a "whisper" quiet machine
4. Persons who have a dedicated space for a home gym.
People who the Bowflex Revolution may not be the best choice for:
1. People below 5' 8".
2. First time home gym buyers - $2,700 could be a lot to invest to see if you like exercising at
home, or not.
3. People who can exercise with more than 300Ib.
4. Individuals who want to be able to move their home gym.
In Summary
The Bowflex Revolution has many features that for the “right”
person, would be worth the $2,700 - $2,900 investment.
On the other hand, if you don’t want to invest as much, the
original Bowflex models (such as the Ultimate, Motivator, or Extreme 2) can offer a high quality home gym at a more “budget-friendly” price.
